Nearly 1 in 5 children globally live in conflict and/or disaster-stricken countries without proper access to quality health services or medication. These innocent and helpless children live everyday fearing gunshots, bombs, death, injury or if their parents or siblings will make it back home safely. Modern warfare spares no one, and leaves children with devastating physical injuries and mental impairments, forced displacements and unnecessary death. Children are the first victims of war. Through Children of War Foundation’s partnership with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, University of Southern California and Shriners Hospital Los Angeles, COFW is able to provide the finest surgeons to children in need of life-saving procedures. They also upgrade hospitals, provide medical education workshops and lectures and deliver life-saving medication, surgical supplies and medical equipment to hospitals. COFW has impacted the lives of 12,000 children in over 40 communities around the world.
Children have become the silent sufferers of conflict, facing permanent physical and mental damage and death every single day. 72% of child deaths in conflict-stricken countries are due to landmines, explosive remnants of war, air strikes and other explosives, and children are seven times more likely to die from injuries from explosives than adults who are involved with the war. Too many innocent children are dying due to a lack of quality healthcare in their home country. Their survival relies on donations which provide the medical supplies for surgery.
Your impact donation is helping to achieve the below Sustainable Development Goals developed by the United Nations.
