Ask a question

People in developing countries are burdened by poor dental health such as periodontal disease and dental caries, which can lead to pain, tooth loss, infection, heart disease and death, among others. While the most well-known issues in developing countries are poverty, hunger and poor sanitation, poor dental health plays a crucial role in overall health, especially in children. Good dental health from an early age promotes life-long wellbeing and health and increases quality of life. Donate a Toothbrush collects and distributes toothbrushes to shelters, food banks and other charitable organisations all over the world to increase global public health and reduce easily preventable oral diseases.

Importance Importance

90% of dental cavities in children go untreated in developing countries due to a lack of adequate dental care. Many developing countries do not have the funds to support dental health facilities or address the issues of children’s poor dental health, meaning this task has been left to volunteers and donations. Without regular toothbrushing, plaque builds up on the surface of the teeth, creates an environment for more bacteria to accumulate and leads to dangerous infections and diseases. Toothbrushes are a simple and incredibly effective way to tackle and reduce poor dental health while also allowing more children to attend school and receive an education.

Donate a Toothbrush

Dental cavities and gum disease are the most widespread diseases in the world and poor dental health can lead to pain, tooth loss, infection and even death, yet many don't think of dental hygiene as a major issue in developing countries. We collect donated, new and unused toothbrushes and distribute them to shelters, food banks and other charitable organisations around the world. Children’s dental health plays a critical role in their overall health and well being and requires attention starting at an early age and routinely throughout their lives.
